Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to appear in the new Hunger Games series instalment, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

News has broken that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.

An Important Reunion for Fans

The duo are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their appearance will take the form of a future-set scene, considering the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.

This marks the sixth film in the global Hunger Games franchise.

Delving Into the Prequel

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed most of the previous films in the series.

The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

  • Ralph Fiennes is cast as a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.
